Ben is the father of a 21 year old daughter with a rare genetic disorder, STX BP1. It causes fine and gross motor skill deficits and delays. Lily will attend the talk with him. She has lead him into the world of promotion of inclusion of people with disabilities in larger society.
Ben Kahrl’s talk will center of different avenues people might take in efforts to include people with intellectual disabilities in larger society. These efforts might range from small daily gestures to larger programs of activities and even volunteer and employment. The talk will move from what are some of the disabilities, what are some of the challenges, to various terminology people might prefer and close on the the efforts of one local business, Rooster’s Men’s Grooming salon in Wellesley to give Ben’s daughter Lily gainful employment on her road to autonomy.
